PCN Event--Chemical Health and Mental Health: What Parents Need to Know
Monday, October 3, 2016
7:00 PM - 9:00 PM
Dr. Joseph Lee is the Medical Director for Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation’s youth
services and is Hazelden’s thought leader on matters related to youth, addiction,
families and mental health. Dr. Lee’s experience with families from across the country
provide him with an unparalleled perspective on emerging drug trends, co-occurring
mental health conditions, and the ever-changing culture of addiction.
Adolescence is a critical time for development. While many adolescents mature without
major difficulties, a significant number are prone to developing mental health and
substance related problems. Dr. Lee’s talk will educate parents on adolescent brain
development, understanding how and why your child might be at risk, and the
environmental/genetic variables at play in substance abuse and mental health issues.
Dr. Lee is a triple-boarded physician having completed his Adult Psychiatry residency at
Duke University Hospital and his fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry from
Johns Hopkins Hospital. He is a member of the American Academy of Child and
Adolescent Psychiatry’s Substance Abuse Committee. Given his unique specialization
and powerful messaging, he has been featured in numerous media venues.
